Priority number three on NAMI-Iowa’s legislative list is identifying a sustainable funding strategy for Iowa’s 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, and to develop a comprehensive and consistent approach to behavioral health crisis response throughout the state.

I wrote a 2-part column about the 988 Lifeline this past fall with a firsthand perspective from my sister, who worked the 988 crisis chat line the first year it was in operation.
